In the week of which Justice Day (8) and World Day of Fight against Corruption are celebrated (9), it is our role, as actors of law, to emphasize the importance of these ideals for the construction of an ethical and equitable society.
There is no doubt about the damage generated by corruption in Brazil and the world, but the extent of its damage goes well beyond the money diverted. It includes the discredit of institutions, extends inequality and implies a rupture in the bond of trust deposited in the rulers.
The tools of justice have evolved in compass with the relevance of the theme, given the recent decision of carf that condemned a large company to the collection of taxes and fine on amounts diverted by way of bribes. This means that being in compliance is ensuring the sustainability of business and building a better and fairer society.
